Exploring Focus, Growth and New Beginnings with Tim Abbott of Showbox Sires

How One Year of Focus Shaped a Season of Growth and Opened the Door to a New Family Venture

Tim Abbott of Showbox Sires sits down with us to reflect on his 2025 word of the year, the progress and challenges that defined the past 12 months and the next chapter unfolding for his family through a new business in Montana. His story highlights consistency, resilience and a willingness to keep learning and growing.

A Year of Focus and What It Really Meant

Tim admits his commitment to the word focus had mixed results, but the exercise pushed him to stay mindful of his priorities. “I am gonna give myself a B-,” he said. “I think I made progress.” He explained that whenever he lost focus, he thought back to their conversation a year earlier. “What was my goal? What was my word? Focus.

Showbox Sires Reaches Its Strongest Growth Yet

The most rewarding part of the year, Tim said, was the progress of Showbox Sires. “We continue month over month to have our biggest months ever,” he said. The company saw its largest sales month during World Dairy Expo. Tim credited this to staying centered on what he could control. “I had to stay focused on what we could do to gain credibility in sales.”

Building Trust Through Consistency

Tim shared that trust is foundational for both distributors and producers. “To gain that trust and respect comes with a constant message and doing the same thing the same way,” he said. “Trust is hard to achieve and easy to lose.” He emphasized consistent actions and performance across their Bulls, sales reps and the business.

Challenges Along the Way, Including the Shadow Side of Success

Tim was open about the challenges that came with a growing business. “You run into jealousy,” he said. “People think you have had too many good shots on goal.” He noted that negative reactions are part of human nature. “You can either dwell on it or you can drive past it.” Time and focus were also challenges. “Having the time to focus on what we needed to for this business has been a challenge.”

A New Chapter Ahead

A major life event for the Abbotts in 2025 was purchasing Deep Canyon Guest Ranch in Montana. He and his wife, Sharyn, are excited to build something their daughters will also be part of. The ranch’s long history, shaped by its previous owners, adds to its meaning.

Looking ahead, Tim’s new word for 2026 is explore. “I want to explore new ways to do business, explore new ways to promote our cows and genetics, explore more of the country and explore into the minds of people from all facets of life.”
